Funding & Volunteering so Far

Since convening the Coalition in July 2024, we have operated entirely on a volunteer basis until last week. We are incredibly proud that we were able, nonetheless, to make substantial progress.

With only one full-time volunteer staff, we catalyzed over 1,700 hours of volunteering work from our community, grew from six founding NGO partners to ten, and over 25 exceptional team members and advisors. We launched the Coalition on December 18th, 2025, via an Open Call for a Coalition for a Baruch Plan for AI, a detailed 90-page Case for a Coalition for a Baruch Plan for AI (v.1) PDF with 22 exceptional contributors, and an 8-minute explained video.

Funding so Far

In early February 2025, we received €500 from Roberto Savio and our first $60,000 grant from Survival and Flourishing Fund (SFF). These will enable us to keep operating for the next 12 months at a slightly higher rate and even hold our hybrid Harnessing AI Risk Summit this Summer in Geneva (albeit very frugally), which we have been planning for over one year.

SFF is the second largest donor entity in the AI Safety and AI Governance space, with $30-40 million donated annually to dozens of NGOs. It is wholly funded by Jaan Tallinn, founder of Kazaa and Skype, an investor in OpenAI and Anthropic, and cofounder of the Future of Life Institute (the most prominent and most funded NGO in the space). SFF grant awarding operations are led by the SFF "Speculation Grantors" committee, made up of AI safety experts with rare expertise and influence.
