Seminars on the Trajectory of AI and its Governance
The Coalition for a Baruch Plan for AI is proud to offer organizations, clubs and interest groups the opportunity to host engaging and insightful seminars on the trajectory of AI and its governance, and its implications for concerned citizens and heads of state.
These seminars are available both virtually via Zoom and in person at your preferred location. Since we currently operate exclusively on a voluntary basis, we typically ask for reimbursement of expenses and a small donation.
What we offer
Our seminars can be adapted to your needs. Our basic format is an highly interactive online or in person event, with 5-9 participants where we explore together:
The current trajectory and its impact on society, geopolitics, markets and our future.
The extraordinary opportunities beyond material wellbeing, healhcare and beyond.
The immense risks for human security and economic power concentration
What is meant by Superintelligence and because it represents a unique challenge.
A comprehensive look at the main international AI governance initiatives,
What can we do to face this challenge, for us, our children and for Humanity.
The Trajectory
AI advancements are progressing at shocking speed. The US and China are engaged in a winner-take-all race via their leading firms for dominance. By now, hundreds of billions are being invested every year.
The foreseen benefits of AI are astounding, from healthcare to education, from scientific progress to unimagined abundance, and even for human psychological well-being and helping humanity solve long standing global challenges.
Yet, this race is unconstrained by any meaningful rules is forcing all competitors to run as fast as possible without proper safeguards. If the current trajectory continues, most independent AI scientists agree that we are facing shocking risks, in timelines of a few years or less:
(a) immense for human safety, deriving from misuse or loss of any human control (!);
(b) an immense risks of a further and durable concentration of economic power.
Top US AI CEOs, including Elon Musk, OpenAI's CEO Sam Altman, who were the most vocal, until early last year, about the enormity of the safety risks need for global regulation, have rightly grown increasingly skeptic in the face of states utter inaction.
In recent weeks, Musk, Altman, largely NVIDIA's CEO - and a new $500 billion AI venture presented 2 weeks ago on stage with Trump - have all publicly declared that their stated goal is not only to create only AGI, a highly undefined term, but to create a Superintelligence, a very precisely-defined term describing AI capable of improving itself autonomously, which has a very high risk of becoming uncontrollable.
What are superpowers and states doing about this? What our heads of state do at this point? How can they still prevent this immnese risks and realize the great benefits? what can we do as citizens? Join us to learn more about all this in an interactive seminar.
